I recently decided to look up our friend Brandon Wright, Chuck's new sax man, a couple of weeks ago to see what he's up to. Got hooked up with him on facebook and found out he is currently touring with Abraham, Inc in addition to his quartet work and dates with Chuck.

Abraham, Inc. has a very interesting sound... it's a combination of Klezmer (I had to look it up - Eastern European Jewish), funk and hip hop. The group includes Fred Wesley, who was James Brown's music director and trombonist. What does hip hop and an accordion have in common?!? Very interesting musical concept! I hope to go see them in a few weeks when they come to Houston. I'll post pics and a review if I'm able to go.

Here's a short video on facebook that shows a little bit of Brandon.

Enjoy! And check his itinerary and go see them if they're in your area.

I can't wait to hear Brandon with Chuck. It's been a while since my last Chuck concert.

I copied this from my facebook posting, so please forgive the redundancy... it's late!

Tonight I experienced the most musically innovative and one of the most entertaining concerts I've ever attended. Abraham Inc. is to music what Picasso was to painting... it sounds familiar, but don't quite recognize it, yet a thoroughly enjoyable masterpiece. Amazing how klezmer, funk and rap can mix together, but they do an amazing job of weaving it together.

Brandon Wright is one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet. He's got a long, promising career ahead of him. We've traded emails for nearly a year now and finally got to meet. Thanks for the time Brandon!

BTW Brandon's debut CD is coming out in a few weeks, so be looking for it!
